Pete Townshend, The Who – I Am One

Two versions of I Am One. First being some archival concert footage from The Who at Cow Palace in 1973. Most of this concert is available on youtube and is worth every second. The second clip is from Townshend’s solo career, and is notably missing the mid section rock.

The Who at Kilburn, 1977

The Who at Kilburn was originally shot for the Kid’s Are Alright documentary, but the band decided the footage was too rough. Since then they have released the concert in live album and DVD format and it is one of their most intense performances, regardless of it’s “roughness.” The band had not played live in over a year, and Keith Moon was spiraling out of control. Kilburn was the next-to-last gig Moon performed with The Who, as he died less than a year after the filming.

The Who – “Baba O’Riley” (The Kids Are Alright)

As my first post I thought I would post one of my all-time-favorite live videos from one of my all-time-favorite bands. It’s “Baba O’Reily” from the opening of the 1979 film “The Kids Are Alright” directed by Jeff Stein. Another good title for this video would have been “Pete hates tambourine.”

and as a special bonus, OX CAM, a video of the same track but only on Entwistle with the bass isolated… (audio starts a few minutes in)
