This page is dedicated to live music on film. I want to trace the way back to the earliest live music film recordings, and highlight some of the most notable finds along the way and back. I’ll be posting various clips and discoveries. I’ll also be reviewing films and DVDs and eventually books as they relate to the subject matter.
My plan for the first few months is to find as many interesting youtube clips as possible, and try to draw any connections I can from those as a starting point. I will eventually dig down deeper into specific time periods, shows, films, bands, filmmakers, etc.
Also, video counts. But a history of live music on film and video seemed like a bit much, am I right?
